bongard problems is classic cornish influenced breakbeat techno with squidgy roland bass and 8 bit dirt percussion. motion studies is a swingy non linear acid disco trip with moody chord backdrops and some unexpected twists and turns along the way. pixel wrap is medieval echo techno with inhuman voices that give way to a late 80s rave breakdown that builds up into something else again. excalibur is a camelot techno galloper, complete with arthurian lyrics. blank expanse is the kind of music depeche mode ought to be making if they hadnt turned into u2.

although jaxson and keno both have successful solo projects and have previously worked together before, this collaboration is bound to be their most notable release yet. a fusion of house, funk, latin and techno, all meet at the crossroads of their studios for a 4 track ep of sundry beats and fresh flavors. clearly the a-side, >tout le temps< is comprised of a clever hook and a hazy latino vocal sample, which carries the initial groove right into an originally played synth section. a good example of a refreshing approach to adding effects and using sounds. >tarantella< as the title might suggest, one might expect a track that would scare the living day lights out of you, but it has more of a >creeping up from behind you< sort of vibe. a subtlety creeping groove subliminally enters your unconscious mind carrying a secret message. what is that message you ask? dance! the congas on, >red baron< sound so live you can almost here the players licking their fingers. congas might be the groove in the heart of this tune, but the melody of the slick synth stabs and rising strings are what ultimately breath energy and spunk into this roller. >karate kid< initially has a minimal feel, but once the hacked up guitar and vocals come in, you can put those dirty thoughts to rest. abundant with an overwhelming amount of unique and interesting sounds, secure this tunes ability to prick up the ears of finicky djs and clubbers alike. it is rare to find such a wide variation of sound design on your run of the mill ep, but kindisch has proved they are not an ordinary label. they are consistently releasing quality tunes and always providing pleasant surprises. some might say it is a clichÚ, but this ep really does have a bit of something that will drive one club or another nuts

tokyo based synth outfit trans of life shows some true talent on this double sided single. their productions combine some amazing sounds as wholesome 4/4 house, deep electronic overtones, chill jazz, and latin melodies. foi voce (tol vocal) has lovely portuguese verses & melodies sung by yukiko koga. this is a full on vocal mix chill enough for the lounge and fancy enough for a 5 star dining hall. their dubs go a bit deeper and darker and are a lot more dance floor effective. the vocals turn to echoes and quasi chanting and a myriad of sounds flow in and out of this tune. the masterful original delight earth, a body & soul party favorite, show just how talented these guys are. full of trumpet solos and latin conga rhythms with plucked stringed guitars make for a sensational ride. back to the club on their dub... great package!!

the follow-up to last years deep in need, the haunting me ep brings three new soulful and sleazy tracks from dirty bee. since house has been a buzzword for the last year or two, old-timer dirty bee shows the kids that its possible to give a shout-out to the old school, while still finding plenty of room for innovation. the title track, featuring bees friend luther on vocal duties, brings a paranoid vibe that crescendos with fluttering chimes and a baltimore breakdown. on the flipside, things get a bit filthy with out of body: pounding bass with conga accents keep the tempo, while a drunken, off-kilter saxophone solo tries to find its way home. finally, the snarling, electrified bounce of work for me closes out the ep. spread the house gospel!

50hz is back with another killer!! the jackin sound is still popular and 50hz is one of the leading labels in the scene. jamie b prooves it once again with a track full of jackin beats and vocals. dj robain is new on the label and takes a bit harder.. jack nation repressenting with a jackin beat that bounces from left to right and last but not least ben long finishes the ep in true style. this one is big!!

rezkars fascination with music began with his parents record collection. listening to local radio stations as a child, he heard 80s tracks. as an adult he discovered the magic of 60s and 70s jazz and funk. one day, his cousin played a track that he immediately fell in love with. he later learned that this was house music. he discovered the fruity loops sequencer software and thought, why not try to make my own tracks, after all, it cant really be that hard? deep house can sound deceptively simple. its a bit like japanese anime, rezkar says. it looks so cute and easy to draw, but try to actually draw it, and you will discover its even harder than realistic drawings. the thing about house is that if you try too hard it can come across as being very cheesy, but then again, if you dont do enough it can sound incomplete. finding the balance is not easy, rezkar admits. after hearing his music, one finds that he is learning this lesson quite well.
